Strengthening SHERQ Excellence Through Collaboration
ARIES Project Workshop with Eskom
On 06 February 2026, Proconics NewFields, in collaboration with Eskom, successfully hosted a dedicated SHERQ Workshop in support of the ARIES Project.
The engagement brought together SHERQ professionals and project representatives from both organisations with a clear purpose: to strengthen collaboration, align SHERQ expectations, and reinforce shared accountability across the full project lifecycle.
Leadership in SHERQ, Embedded at the Workface
The workshop reaffirmed Proconics NewFields’ leadership-driven approach to Safety, Health, Hygiene, Quality, Security, and Environmental (SHERQ) management. Through active participation by SHERQ specialists and project leadership, the session demonstrated disciplined governance, practical constructability insight, and strict alignment with Eskom’s construction requirements, standards, and technical specifications.
Central to the engagement was a guiding principle that underpins how Proconics NewFields delivers projects:
all incidents, injuries, and non-conformances are preventable.
This philosophy was embedded throughout the workshop discussions, with strong emphasis on:
• Visible leadership at the workface
• Proactive risk identification and early intervention
• Continuous improvement through collaboration and accountability
Key Areas of Alignment
The workshop achieved alignment across critical SHERQ focus areas, including:
• Safety & Leadership
Reinforcing a zero-harm culture, strong safety leadership, and full compliance with statutory and Eskom safety requirements.
• Occupational Health & Wellbeing
Confirming occupational health compliance, workforce wellbeing initiatives, and hygiene standards across site operations.
• Quality & Constructability
Demonstrating constructability capability, quality assurance controls, and execution aligned with approved specifications and design intent.
• Security Management
Aligning on access control measures, asset protection, and adherence to Eskom security protocols.
• Environmental Stewardship
Strengthening commitment to environmental protection, regulatory compliance, and minimising environmental impact throughout project execution.
Building the Foundation for Safe, Compliant Delivery
The workshop successfully met its objectives by strengthening stakeholder collaboration, confirming SHERQ requirements, and establishing a solid foundation for the safe, compliant, and high-quality execution of the ARIES Project.
Proconics NewFields’ leadership-driven approach to SHERQ excellence continues to position the project for successful delivery — aligned with Eskom’s expectations and industry best practice.
